01 — The Story Behind It
Mai, mid-dance. Rafa, mid-answer. Vera, a stranger to herself. Kenji’s wave still frozen. Blot saw the blank page coming and pulled them free. They landed here, inside your stories.
Every choice is a cliffhanger. Every cliffhanger is a lesson.
You are the main character. They just have to live with your choices.
02 — How It Works
01 — Choose Your World
Ten worlds. Five levels. You pick.
From ghost stories to love stories. At the start of a story, highlight the words you don’t know. Five on one page? Drop down a level. Fewer than five? You are in the right place. Read at the right level for you.
02 — Read. Listen. Highlight. Review.
Every page is read to you.
Touch any word to see it in your language, like the words with a line under them on this page. New words go into your word , ready to send to with one click.
The hall is dark. Someone is behind the door.
Your choice moves the story.
03 — Speak and Write Your Way Through
The characters ask for your help.
Say why you chose what you chose. Talk with the characters about the ending. They have questions. You have met them. Get fast on everything you say and write.
04 — You Don’t Leave Them There
The second run, the third, the fourth… it clicks.
The second run is different. You already know the world, so the words come almost without thinking. Go back, pick a better path, read against the clock, shadow the reader. Each new run builds your fluency.
03 — The Method
01
INPUT
(Read and Listen)
These are stories you will want to finish. Each page plays aloud, so reading and listening happen at once. Finish it, then go back and choose differently. New path, new ending.
02
OUTPUT
(Speak and Write)
You say things that matter to the character. You write your real opinion of the ending. Nothing here is an exercise with a right answer.
03
LANGUAGE (Words and Grammar)
The grammar is in the story, not in a table. The same words come back across every path. That builds memory. Other apps call this enough. We call it one strand.
04
FLUENCY
(Get Fast)
Read against the clock. Listen at speed, not the speed of a lesson. Use what you already know until it stops feeling slow. This is the strand that takes your weight.
04 — The Cast
Every one of them was left hanging. Here is where.
05 — The Worlds
Ghosts, love, crime, heists, space, laughs, and more. Every story drops the cast into a new world at your level, and drops you into the choices. New world, new words. A new you in English.
06 — Why It Works
Learning with stories works. That part is not news. But most story apps stop at reading. That is one strand, watched from outside. Here you are inside it: choosing, speaking, writing back. Four strands, not one. Stories you do not just read. Stories you star in. Written for adults. Graded for learners. Five levels deep. If you know the names for things, here they are. Cliffhanger English is a library of : choose your own stories, built for practice. If you do not know the names, good. You will just call them stories.
Not a course. A cliffhanger.
Cliffhanger English opens in October 2026: about US$12 to 15 a month, with 7 free days. New stories every month. People on the list get in first, keep the first price, and help choose the next worlds.
One or two emails before we open, then your invitation. We only write when there is something good to read.
07 — Questions
What level do I need?
Any level after beginner. Every story comes in five levels, and you choose. Read a page and highlight the words you don’t know: five or more, go down one. Easy first, fast later.
Is it really for adults?
Yes. Written for adults, and rated 15+. Real danger, real jokes, characters with pasts. Nothing here is for children. If you want stories about buying train tickets, other apps have them. They are very nice.
What is inside one story?
About eight pages in one read, three choices, eight endings. Every page is read to you. Highlight a word to see it in your language. One grammar point. on your speaking and writing. Speed games when you play again.
Is this like graded readers?
Yes, and then some. Graded readers are books made easier for learners. Our stories are at five levels too. But here you choose what happens, every page is read to you, and the story asks you to speak and write back. Reading a lot at your level is called . It works, and this is it.
Do I have to speak on camera?
No. Speak with your voice only. Write if you like. The camera is there if you feel .
Is my English too weak for this?
The choices are short and clear at every level. Choosing is the easy part. Living with your choice is the lesson.
When does it open, and how much is it?
October 2026. About US$12 to 15 a month, first 7 days free. People on the list keep the first price.
08 — The Teacher Behind It
A REAL TEACHER MADE THIS.
Damien · the teacher behind the ink
Most apps are built by engineers who added a teacher. This one is the other way round.
I am Damien. I am co-owner and of an English school in Thailand, and I have a Master's in teaching English. I also won a national award for on using technology in the classroom to improve speaking. That research became this.
I live and breathe language teaching. What I always wanted was one resource I would enjoy using, and that my students would enjoy too. Four strands, not one. I write the teaching plan behind every story.
The vision, the direction, the system and the stories are mine. AI helped me build them. In that order.
